Around The Park - Lots of News This Week

Seems like more is happening in Echo Park this week than usual.
As you have heard, Thursday is the last day for City Sip, our beloved Wine Bar.
Mi Alma Designs, a vintage home and outdoor accessories store, which used to be in Sunset Junction in Silverlake, then moved in 2011 to Echo Park, along with a nursery that opened up last year, has been given 30 days notice  from the landlord who wants to
 build apartments on the land.

Next, Allumette Restaurant, which is replacing Allston Yacht Club is opening on Thursday.

Their unfinished website is here: Allumette Restaurant

There is a slideshow posted on Urban Daddy: Allumette Slideshow

And lastly, at least for now, a new Restaurant from the owners of Cook Book, an organic produce shop in Echo Park opened up. According to the review, one of the more expensive in the neighborhood. The L.A. Times published a review by Jonathan Gold:
Portion Control Taken To Extremes

And in the Good News Department, this just in. TiGeorge's Chicken which

TiGeorges Chicken - A little bit of Haiti in Echo Park

I have wanted to go to this small Haitian restaurant for quite some time, and yesterday was my first visit. It definitely won't be my last!
The owner of this brightly colored restaurant on Glendale Boulevard definitely knows chicken. With special haitian seasonings, this chicken is delicious. I had the 1/2 Chicken with Red Beans and Rice. It's served with salad and cole slaw.

We ordered the Timali sauce which is a wonderfully seasoned hot sauce and complimented the chicken perfectly. Definitely order this sauce, you won't be sorry.
I am looking forward to trying other menu items, including the Squash Soup, the Kassav Bread made from Yucca and the Platanos Fritos. He also prepares Goat, Pork and Red Snapper.
The fresh made Lemonade is sweet and definitely different from other Lemonades I've
had.

*Update January 5 - Sad news, L.A. Downtown News is reporting that TiGeorge's will be closing at the end of January. See this article TiGeorges Closing

TiGeorges is located at 307 Glendale Blvd in the Echo Park Neighborhood of Los Angeles
