Ah Paree - Cafe Stella

The closest I have seen to a cafe in Paris is SilverLake's Cafe Stella.
Tucked away in a corner behind the Sunset Junction sign.

We've been wanting to go for a few years and finally went Sunday night. What an adorable place.
Having been to Paris a few years back, the menu was reminiscent of the fare at one of the French Cafe's on Saint Germain.
I wouldn't call it inexpensive, but the food was marvelous. I had the Moules Frittes, which is a hefty pot of Mussels with Fries. The Mussels are in a buttery cream sauce that added a wonderful flavor to the dish. The Coq au Vin was also marvelous, as was the side of Lentils and the Lentil soup.
Add a bottle of wine and you are completely transported to Paree!
This has to be the best French Food in Los Angeles.
 Bon Appetit!

Jody Miller singing in Echo Park in the 60's

Here's a Scopitone video from the mid 60's of Jody Miller singing "Things" in Echo Park

Echo Park at Dusk

Brian W. on Vimeo posted this video of Echo Park Lake at dusk. My hood, nice.....

"Had some time to kill between gigs downtown, and decided to grab some footage at Echo Park. The fountain wasn't working on the evening I shot, but there was still plenty else to see at the park - like the dozen or so species of local and migratory birds that love to hang out by it's 13 acre lake.

More Soon

Sorry for being so lax in keeping the updates coming. I have a few I am working on.
Just an update to a previous article, Mooi, The raw vegan Restaurant, has closed.
I guess there were too few Raw Vegans in the neighborhood.
Aside from that, there is a new 300 seat restaurant being worked on, and another old Bakery is being
turned into yet another restaurant. I will report when they open.
We are also getting our very own Sprint Store. Another sign of the neighborhood moving up.
